RE: Syllabus Change: Summary and Close Reading Papers #1/#2

Having evaluated a large portion of the Summary and Close Reading Paper #1 submissions, I have decided to combine the first two papers into one. This decision means that there will be no grades assigned to this first batch of papers. Rather they will only appear with comments from me.

Next Thursday when you would have brought your rough draft for Summary and Close Reading paper #2, you will bring your REVISED draft of the Summary and Close Reading paper #1. That paper will be workshopped and then a final draft of which will be submitted on February 11^th for a grade.

This means that the Close Reading paper grade, worth 40% of your final grade, will be based off five rather than six essays. I believe this benefits all students and ensures the best opportunity for success. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to ask.
